16 lb. Striper

We are having some great stripped bass fishing here along the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. I am saying that because not much word from up on Lake Mohave. The lake usually does very well for fishing for stripers this time of year. On the other side the fishing for stripers takes a lot of effort. Anglers that are using artificial baits like swim baits plastics and glide baits will be throwing them a lot to produce the results that brings in the trophy fish that might just hang on the wall.
Our local anglers Kenan Guleryuz is showing off one of his prized catches a nice 16.68 pound striper at 34 and 1/2 inches. Kenan was fishing from his boat just above the nature center area to land this beast. He was using a soft swim bait in a trout pattern. And yes he had to make as some anglers joke the thousand casts. The reason for this is you are tossing your lure out till your arms are sore to get the chance of a great battle while landing one of these trophy fish. I do know that the smaller stripers are on the way should be around May.
I haven't heard of any more trout stocking but hope we will get ant least one more to round out the season. I am assuming the lake has not had much action its our weather mostly that keeps even the hardest of anglers hungered down while waiting for a break to get out there. The good news we all know our weather will be great and so is the fishing. Hope this helps for now and we look forward to seeing you in soon. Mostly thanks for all of your support.
