Lake Mohave News

Our local anglers recently enjoyed a calm, wind-free day and landed an impressive haul of striped bass. Fishing aboard Mark Osgood's (a.k.a. "Corn-man") boat, the group, including Mark Lyke and Mike Hakenson, were trolling just outside Katherine’s Landing. The striped bass ranged in size, with weights of 9.98, 9.82, and one smaller catch at 8.7 pounds. Their lengths were 36", 29", and 24", respectively. Mark's go-to lure for these deep-water fish is a buck-tailed jig paired with lead line.

If you can't get out on the lake during no-wind days, don't worry! Community Park and Rotary Park are thriving with rainbow trout, stocked from the Willow Beach Hatchery. The team at Willow Beach does an excellent job raising these fish in the cold, clear waters.

In addition, the striper bite along the Colorado River, just below Davis Dam, has been fantastic. Anglers are landing some big catches at Community Park, Rotary Park, and spots in between.

If you're out fishing and have success, be sure to stop by with your iced-down catch so we can share your story! Thank you all for your continued support, and have a very Happy New Year. Stay safe, and—most importantly—Go Catch a Fish!
