This week, we have some exciting river news from the shores of the Colorado River, just below the Davis Dam. Local angler Bryan Werkmeister landed a couple of nice stripers while fishing from the shore in the Community Park area. He was using a swim bait and caught two stripers: one weighing 12.69 pounds and measuring 31.5 inches, and the other a trophy at 25.84 pounds and 39 inches.

We’ve also been hearing reports of successful rainbow trout catches in the Community Park area. Anglers are having great success using various spinners, including the Panther Martin in yellow with red spots, the Blue Fox, and the Thomas Buoyant. These are sure to land a trout or two. For bait anglers, nightcrawlers and different PowerBait colors are working well, but be sure to switch up the colors to get the fish to bite. Even adding a marshmallow or floating PowerBaits, especially in orange, has been effective.
